When does it get cold enough to make me want to wear shorts again?
In a new interview with IGN, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata discussed the possibility of a new Metroid title being released on Switch in 2019.
According to Iwata, a game like Metroid: Samus Returns was a “dream of mine” and a “big reason” for the Switch launch, which was announced at the E3 event.
“When you look at Metroid:Samus Returns, it was a dream of mine.
But it was also a big reason for us to launch the Switch.
It’s a dream that I’m trying to make a reality.
So if we could make that happen, it would be a really big thing for Nintendo.”
The interview with Iwata also touched on a few other topics, including Switch’s upcoming NX hardware and Nintendo’s upcoming holiday release window.
Nintendo has announced that it will be releasing a new Nintendo Switch console next month in 2019, dubbed the NX.
It will reportedly be the first system with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and the ability to play games and use services like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Nintendo also announced that its holiday sales have been a massive success, with Switch outselling the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Switch’s launch date has also been confirmed for October 24th, 2019, which means that it should be available in many parts of the world by that time.
